Fall is Here. Time to Reacclimate to the Indoors

It certainly was a glorious summer. But now we’ve flipped past that Autumnal Equinox, signaling that Fall has arrived. Enjoying the latter part of the year in Seattle sometimes requires more indoor activities than outdoor, so here are some upcoming localicious events to help get you back into your inside state of mind.

Now until Sept 27: Sketchfest
You only have a few more days to enjoy this hilarious event, which is being hosted at the Annex Theatre at 1100 East Pine. SketchFest comes to town once a year, and brings the best sketch comedians from around the world to pair up with local favorites. This year’s travelling group include comedians from New Orleans, Los Angeles, and Winnipeg. Who knew that Winnepegians, Winnepegites, Winnepeggers, er – people from Winnipeg, were so funny?

September 27 @ 10:00 AM: Seattle AIDS Walk and 5K Run
Fine, it’s not an indoor event, but you can wear your Gore-Tex and carry an umbrella if you’d like. It’s worth battling a few raindrops to take part in this 5K march of support and remembrance through the streets of Capitol Hill. Proceeds benefit Lifelong and partnering community service organizations.

October 3 – 5: SIFF Cinema Egyptian Opening Weekend
It’s the return to Capitol Hill full-time for SIFF Cinema. The theatre kicks off with an opening weekend of community screenings featuring the biggest movie hits in the history of the Egyptian, including the theatre’s longest running film (Amélie), the first movie to play at the Egyptian (Akira Kurosawa’s Kagemusha), and a special tribute to Bruce Lee, co-presented by the Wing Luke Museum. As a thank you to the community who helped raise money, SIFF Cinema Egyptian is offering admission to the Oct 3 – 5 screenings for $5 or FREE with a receipt from any Capitol Hill business (dated October 1 – 5, 2014).

October 9: Capitol Hill Art Walk
On the 2nd Thursday of every month, you can explore all the galleries around Capitol Hill from 5:00-8:00pm. You may be surprised to find out how many galleries there are, especially around Pike and Broadway. See this map for details.

October 11: 5th Annual Cascadia Cheese Festival
It’s cheese, cheese and more cheese at this event, entering its 5th year at the Central Co-op at 1600 East Madison Street. Celebrate local artisan cheesemakers with tastings, workshops, a grilled cheese sandwich contest, and pygmy goats.

Do you have an upcoming event in the next few weeks we should be talking about? Let us know.
